Soft vertical fins scaly basally. Dorsal IV-I, 8 or 9; Anal II, 9; caudal emarginate; pectoral but slightly less than head, with long axillary scale: ventral 12/5. Back pale olivaceous, below whitish. No dark spot at pectora! base. Iris whitish. Reaches 470 mm.

Snout 4 in head; eye 3 3/5 to 4, with broad adipose lids; maxillary 334, concealed, reaches eye; upper lip width 1⁄2 of pupil; interorbital 2 1/5 to 23, broadly convex. Scales 33 to 37, transversely 11 to 12, predorsal 18 to 20. vertical fins finely scaled. Dorsal IV-I, 8 or 9; Anal III, 9; caudal deeply emarginate, scaly basally; pectoral 1 to 1 1/10 in head, reaches beyond spinous dorsal origin, with large axillary scale; ventral 1 2/5. Back grey brown or olive, rows of scales on back and side above with grey brown line. Dorsal, caudal and pectoral greyish, last dusky basally above. Lower fins and iris whitish Length 223 mm.
